Charity Tennis Tournament

On Friday 17th April the inaugural Event Industry Charity Tennis tournament organised by Blue Strawberry and Off to Work took place proving a wonderful success with a diverse field taking part and a sizeable sum raised for the charity, the House of St. Barnabas.

The Tennis tournament, organised by Molly Ronan from Blue Strawberry and Philip Atkins from Off to Work, attracted a mixture of caterers, venues and event suppliers and was hosted at Putney Lawn Tennis Club. Despite the best attempts of the very English weather spirits could not be dampened and the tournament proved a great success for all 24 players and spectators involved.

The final, played in pouring rain, was a hard fought match with Rick Perry (By Word of Mouth) and Peter Ivancik (Off to Work) finally overcoming the gallant efforts of James Hurworth (Mustard) and Charlie Grant Peterton (Rocket). The hardy foursome didn’t let the rain and ever increasing puddles on the court affect the high standard of play and spectators were given a real treat.

Commenting afterwards Molly said: “It is something I have wanted to organise for years and I was delighted that Philip and I were finally able to bring our plans to fruition. To have so many different key players from the event industry take part, from us far a field as the Ministry of Sound and Hampton Court Palace, was testament to people’s willingness in the events industry to give their time for a charity and socialise with their peers. Now we have things rolling we look forward to an even larger event in the summer.”
